Dr. Kahya is a NY State licensed psychologist and board certified behavior analyst in private practice, providing home-based and community-based comprehensive consultation services to children, using principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). She has presented at national and international conferences. Dr. Kahya has fourteen years of experience working with children with Autism, Asperger syndrome, PDD-NOS, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and children who need behavior management and/or individualized programs to bring them to their peer’s level in academic, language, and social skills. She designs, develops, and supervises individualized programs based upon the needs of children and their families. Dr. Kahya also provides parent training to transfer children’s newly acquired skills to their natural environment as well as helping parents become more skillful teachers in reducing and replacing problem behaviors with desired behaviors. Dr. Kahya provides practical strategies in times of crisis situations and models for parents how to implement effective procedures. The positive and skill-building nature of these individualized programs increase children’s self-esteem and help them become more independent members of the family and society.
