The Marcus Avenue Early Childhood Developmental Program, Inc. has been serving families and children with and without special needs through a variety of programs, services and intervention strategies, since 1973. Affiliated with AHRC-Nassau County Chapter and the North Shore-LIJ Health System, the agency offers Day Care services, Early Intervention and Pre-School programs, and is also a NY State approved evaluation site for both NY City and Nassau County. There are currently four locations: Marcus Avenue at SUNY Old Westbury, Marcus Avenue in New Hyde Park, Barbara C. Wilson Pre-School in Woodbury, and the LEEDS Center in Manhasset. The Day Care programs provide an enriched educational environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years, Monday–Friday, 8am–6pm. Activities such as language-based education, including gross and fine motor interactions, are play-based and are aimed at stimulating overall development. Children with special needs, from birth to age 5, are referred to the agency by the Early Intervention or CPSE systems in Nassau County or in NY City. The educational program addresses the major development areas, i.e. communication, gross and fine motor, cognitive, social-emotional, and adaptive skills. All staff are certified or licensed in their professional areas, and the agency’s programs are approved and licensed by the NY State Education Department, as well as the NY Dept. of Health and the Office of Children and Family Services. The agency’s locations are accessible to all major roads and highways, with outdoor playgrounds and tight security systems. Call for a tour of the facilities or for more information about the services offered at each location.
